Glossary for Geospatial Science

Kuan (Adaptive Noise Smoothing) filter:  Filter that removes speckle from radar images using a minimum mean square error calculation to estimate the value of the true signal for the center cell in the filter window.  The filter then calculates the signal estimate from the local mean and variance and the noise standard deviation.
