Glossary for Geospatial Science

origin (X-Y digitizer):  The point on an X-Y digitizer’s active area which has the coordinates (0,0).  The origin is typically located in the lower left corner of the active area, but can be relocated in many digitizer models. (Symbol) The place in a symbol that is positioned at a point location and around which rotation takes place.
