Glossary for Geospatial Science

pseudo-color image:  A color image that does not directly render the colors of the original image from individual red, green, and blue color values.  A pseudo-color image could result from such processes as assigning colors to the gray levels in a grayscale image or assigning colors to a cluster map.  A color map pairs a display color with each possible cell value in a pseudo-color image.  (See also: composite color raster object.)
