Glossary for Geospatial Science

radar image:  An image composed of many pixels, each of which represents the radar back scatter for that area on the ground.  Darker areas have less back scatter than brighter areas.  Bright features in an image are those that return a large fraction of the radar energy to the sensor, while dark features reflect little or no energy to the sensor.
