Glossary for Geospatial Science

stepwise linear classification:  A supervised image processing routine applied in the same fashion as maximum likelihood classification using training sets, or prototypes.  This method applies the classical techniques of stepwise linear discriminant analysis to set up the classification model and map the materials desired from the input raster objects.  (See also: maximum likelihood classification)
