Glossary for Geospatial Science

tiling:  Assembling large images from smaller segments that have common angular orientations, cell sizes, and map projections.  The process is similar to that of assembling floor tiles, except that the raster tiles may overlap at the onset.  (See also: montage, mosaic.)
